Change the Clutter Ratio Model
Since I started blogging about a year ago, I’ve written about my efforts to help others shed their clutter. Today, I’m going to share a quick, simple way to rid your life and space of clutter.
One of the first pieces of advice I received when I started organizing came from my mentor and fellow organizer, Amy Rehkemper: it’s the One In, One Out Rule. Basically, whenever you bring something new into your space, let a like item go.
Here’s the problem. That model works well if you’re already decluttered and organized, but what if you’re not? Simple. Change the ratio – that is, for each new thing you bring into your home, eliminate 2, 3 or even more like items.
Using the new model enables you to chip away at clutter and gets you closer to achieving your organizing goals.
Happy organizing!
